Ward: New Website Enables Applicants to Check Status of Property Tax/Rent Rebates

www.papropertytaxrelief.com

Greensburg -- Pennsylvania residents can now check the status of their Property Tax/Rent Rebates online, according to state Sen. Kim Ward (R-39).

Ward said the Department of Revenue hosts a new website www.papropertytaxrelief.com which will provide information on claim status, rebate amount and the date a rebate is expected to be mailed or direct-deposited.

Six weeks after residents submit a Property Tax/Rent Rebate application, they can visit the site and access their information by entering the following:

  • Social Security number
  • Anticipated rebate amount
  • Date of birth

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program provides property tax relief and rent rebates of up to $650 to many low-income senior citizens. The department will begin distributing checks on July 1, 2009.

"For most senior citizens, property taxes or rent are among the biggest expenses," said Ward. "The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, funded by the state Lottery, can be a big help. Knowing the claim status, rebate amount and the date a rebate is expected to be mailed or direct-deposited can help seniors in planning their household budget. I encourage anyone who applied for the rebate to look into this online service."
