“Human Trafficking: What It Is and What We Can Do”
(GREENSBURG, PA) August 13, 2020 – Senator Kim Ward will be hosting a live streamed human trafficking discussion on August 25th starting at 6 pm.
Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Every year, millions of men, women and children are trafficked worldwide-including right here in the United States.
Senator Kim Ward stated, “It doesn’t just happen in big cities. Combatting human trafficking in our area begins with raising awareness through education.”
The discussion will inform parents and community members on the relationship between human trafficking and social media, what to do if individuals suspect human trafficking and how to keep children safe from trafficking.
Feature presentations include US Attorney Scott Brady and Assistant US Attorney Rebecca Silinski from the United Stated Department of Justice, the Blackburn Center and Aaron Allen from the Pennsylvania State Police.
