Legislative Leaders, Advocates to Celebrate Bipartisan Passage of Historic Breast Cancer Screening Bill

HARRISBURG – Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland) will attend a news conference Wednesday, April 26 at 12:30 p.m. outside the Lt. Governor’s office on the 2nd Floor of the Capitol Rotunda to celebrate final passage of Senate Bill 8 by the House of Representatives.

Senator Ward is the prime sponsor of the bill, landmark legislation that removes out-of-pocket costs associated with genetic testing for hereditary breast, ovarian, prostate and other cancer syndromes, as well as supplemental breast screenings for women with a high lifetime risk of breast cancer.

In addition to colleagues from the Senate, joining Senator Ward will be House Speaker Joanna McClinton (D-Philadelphia/Delaware) and Pat Halpin-Murphy, President and Founder of the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
