I attended two events today to recognize and honor our Vietnam Veterans. During his first term, President Trump signed into law the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017, which established National Vietnam War Veterans Day. March 29 each year marks the day the U.S. Military Assistance Command Vietnam was disestablished in 1975. Itโs an honor for me to be in a room full of men and women who served this nation. At VFW Post 33 Mr. Ed Mihalacki described in detail what it was like to be a soldier serving in Vietnam. He said it was either boredom or terror. He described getting sprayed by Agent Orange. The soldiers were told it wouldnโt effect them. The second program held at the Norwin Elks had a focus on Agent Orange. I had the opportunity to speak with people who had or still have cancer as a result. These men and women deserve our gratitude and thanks. When they arrived back in the US that wasnโt always the case. They deserve this day in their honor.
