June 28, 2017 - Governor Wolf signed HB1238 (Rep. Todd Stephens) animal protection legislation into law. This legislation creates the most comprehensive animal protection law as it updates existing statutes and increases penalties for abuse of animals.
June 27, 2017-The Mt. Pleasant Area Junior-Senior High School Softball Team visited the State Capitol. They won the 2017 PIAA State Class 4A Girls’ Softball championship, under the leadership of head coach Lauren Shaheen and Assistant Coaches Allison Homulka, Jocelyn Gula and Rick Shaheen and Athletic Director Allan Bilinsky. The Vikings captured the State title by defeating Tunkhannock High School with a score of 5 to 3 and amassed a season record of 17 wins and 3 losses.
June 13, 2017- As chairwoman of the Senate Labor and Industry Committee, Senator Ward spoke at the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Convention in Hershey.
June 6, 2017-Senator Ward and Eric Kratz of her staff had the opportunity to view the original Great Law, passed in December 1682, at the General Assembly’s very first session. The Great Law is a series of statutes that provided a stable groundwork for Pennsylvania’s representative government. Among other things, it addressed elections and taxation, and it guaranteed a greater degree of religious freedom than any other legal code of its day. This one day exhibit honored the 335th anniversary of the General Assembly.
May 26, 2017- PA Governor Tom Wolf signed SB133, prime sponsored by Senator Ward, this legislation will repeal the REAL ID Nonparticipation Act, which prohibits Pennsylvania from complying with the Federal REAL ID Act, thereby helping Pennsylvanians avoid the need for a passport to visit a military base, get into a federal building or fly domestically.
May 9, 2017- High School Seniors from the Hempfield Area Senior High School who participate in an elective class called Project 18 with their teacher Mr. Stough and chaperones visited the State Capitol.
May 9, 2017-Senator Ward introduced Senate Resolution 101 recognizing the month of May 2017 as "Building Safety Month" in Pennsylvania and encouraging residents to participate in "Building Safety Month" activities.
April 25, 2017- The Greensburg Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School Girls’ Volleyball team won the 2016 PIAA State Class A Girls’ Volleyball championship, under the leadership of head coach Kate McCauley and Assistant Coaches Courtney Stynchula and Robin Klimke, this is the team’s second state title in three years.
March 21, 2017-Pitt Greensburg students, faculty and alumni visit the State Capitol
January 3, 2017 - Five new Republican state Senators, as well as 11 re-elected Republican members including Senator Ward, were sworn into office during ceremonies at the State Capitol.
